AS1926 Pool Fence Compliant

  • 1200mm minimum barrier height
  • Maximum 100mm gaps at the bottom
  • Self-closing, self-latching gates

Pre-engineered, bolt-together

Metal balustrade is the practical end of the range — aluminium systems that carry their own load through posts and rails, so the compliance work is largely in the design of the system, not a one-off engineering certificate for your job. That's the real split with glass: the frame holds everything up, so you get pre-engineered, modular kits that go together cleanly around corners, steps and angles. The most DIY-friendly way to put a compliant barrier on a deck, balcony, stair or pool edge.

At launch we're running two systems — BARR and Blade — with more of the range coming.

The styles

BARR. A pre-fabricated panel system, horizontal rails with fabricated pickets, welded into complete panels that fix to installed posts. Clean, modern, the workhorse of the range. Sold per metre as a complete kit; deck-mount posts take an M10 ground fixing, face-mount an M12. Black or white, with matching gate panels.

Blade. Angled aluminium blades in a post frame — a louvred look, partial privacy with airflow, a sharper profile than BARR. Sits alongside BARR on price; the call is the look — the picket line (BARR) or the slatted line (Blade).

Coming soon

We're expanding the metal range. Premium Perf, perforated aluminium, semi-solid, reads as privacy from standing height; the premium end, popular in Queensland. Visor, an architectural louvre and the dearest metal option. Both coming soon, get in touch and we'll help you prepare a design and quote in the meantime.

The compliance bit, straight

Balustrade answers to the NCC and AS 1170 (the loads a barrier takes) — not the pool standard. What touches your order:

  • Pre-engineered by design. The frame carries the load, so the system's built to meet the code as a kit — no separate engineering certificate to chase the way structural glass needs.
  • Height. 1000mm minimum from the finished floor.
  • Top rail. Over a one-metre drop, a top rail is part of the system — the calculator includes it.
  • Openings. Nothing that passes a 125mm sphere.
  • Pool-edge use. If the balustrade also forms a pool barrier, pool rules (AS 1926.1, 100mm openings, the non-climbable zone) apply on top — the calculator flags where that bites.

Metal or glass?

Not expensive-vs-cheap, the ranges overlap, and the dearest metal sits above the cheaper glass. The question is the view a frameless glass panel gives versus the pre-engineered, bolt-together simplicity of a frame. Full rundown: Glass Balustrade vs Aluminium.
